There are three types of vehicle keys that we can supply cut and program as seen below;
Traditional transponder-type keys that insert into a lock (that are sensed by your vehicle when inserted) and turned to start the engine. We can also repair and re-code the ignitions and door locks for this type of keyway.
Push-button start vehicles that have a Proximity type key that, as long as you have it in your possession the car will start (unless of course the proximity key battery is discharged or flat). These vehicles do have emergency keys that can be used when the battery fails. The locks are sometimes seized through lack of use due to the nature of the system but we can also service these locks back to working order and also advise as to where the lock is located. Sometimes in very peculiar places…I.E. Lincoln vehicles.
Twist proximity keys, are rare but are seen on Nissan and Mazda vehicles. With this type of key, there is a two-step programming process wherein you have to cut the vehicle key and insert it into the ignition on the steering column (once the twist knob has been removed) and program the key, then progress to program the fob which then becomes a proximity key!
